Kranen/Gille – In General

The work of Kranen/Gille reflects them as persons. A strong personal touch and character would be the best way to describe the objects they design.
Always based upon craftsmanship, techniques old and new and never making their story too big makes Kranen/Gille what they are, but don’t be mistaken by the sight of a lovely mountain view in the back of one their A “...” chairs, for there is always a hidden layer.
Inspired by abandoned places, industrialisation, factory and craftsmanship processes they are constantly renewing themselves in order to express their feeling towards functionality.

Kranen/Gille – Curriculum short

Jos Kranen (Tegelen 1977)
Jos Kranen graduated at Design Academy Eindhoven in 2004. His work is best described as innovative and a bit alienating, yet accessible on multiple levels. He hovers between a certain anxiety to know how things work or to be blissfully unaware, and just enjoying and making new products.

Johannes Gille (Marburg 1979)
Johannes Gille graduated at Design Academy Eindhoven in 2004. Johannes’ work always originates from the character he assigns to a specific object. Designing in this way enables him to create somewhat surrealistic but always utterly functional designs.
